Halloween Greetings

Posted on 29th October 2008 by admin in Dogs, General, Holidays, Pets - Tags: , , , , , , ,

After having summer temperatures for most of October the weather took a turn for the creepy this week…and just in time! The wind is blowing hard through the trees making them creak eerily, pumpkin colored leaves are swirling ‘round our legs as we dodge yet another spider web, and the sky is fairly boiling with clouds.

Right on cue we’re seeing wispy things out of the corners of our eyes and wondering what that bumping noise might be. And of course we’re dreaming of candy apples, Snickers bars, candy corn, and home-made popcorn balls. Halloween must be just around the corner!

Our Dane boy (aka ‘Ol Pumpkin Eyes) asked us to send his wishes to all of you for a fun and safe Halloween.

Happy Howlyween!

His favorite online Halloween game this year is Pumpkin Toss with a top score so far of 2525. He also wants you to know the skeletons are tricky and to watch out for the green slime!

Happy Fall,

More Feline Fun! - Part 2 of Cat Haiku

Posted on 19th October 2008 by admin in Cats, General, Pets - Tags: , , ,

Here is more fun from some rather intelligent kitties:o) We’ve kept the list of Cat Haiku hidden from our kitty. He thinks he’s far smarter than we are anyway and we don’t want to provide him with anything that will support his theory!

Haiku Written by Cats

Your mouth is moving;
Up and down, emitting noise.
I’ve lost interest.

Bookend Kitties

My brain: walnut-sized.
Yours: largest among primates.
Yet, who leaves for work?

Most problems can be
Ignored. The more difficult
Ones can be slept through.

Cats can’t steal the breath
Of children. But if my tail’s
Pulled again, I’ll learn.

I don’t mind being
Teased, any more than you mind
A skin graft or two.

So you call this thing
Your “cat carrier”. I call
These my “blades of death”.

They're very sharp!

Ok… it’s back to work for us…How about you?

K.I.S.S. - Rescue Focus

Posted on 5th October 2008 by admin in Cats, General, Pets, Rescue Group Focus - Tags: , , , , ,

This week we’re going to visit with a cat rescue group from Hoptacong New Jersey. A friend of ours (Sue B.) is a foster Mom for K.I.S.S. (Kitties In Need of Someone Special)

K.I.S.S. is a registered non-profit charitable organization in New Jersey staffed by a dedicated group of women who are commited to making a difference in the lives of unwanted cats and kittens, many of which are turned away from shelters because they are full.

Recently Sue completed a remodel on the fostering rooms in her home and her kitties have it made! We call it Sue’s Kitty Heaven because it is! She’s been a cat lover for many years fostering countless kittens for K.I.S.S. as well as caring for feral cats in her community.

Sue always sends us the cutest pics of her foster kittens and we thought we would share some of her current babies with you.

Silly Day! - Cat Haiku

Posted on 31st August 2008 by admin in Cats, General, Pets - Tags: , , , , ,

Some days in the studio are sillier than others…this is one of them! We like to pass on funny stuff we come across about animals, and a friend recently sent us a doozey about cats.

We share our home with an orange tabby cat who unsuccessfully conceals from us that we’re actually his personal staff. So, for those of you who are familiar with the feline point of view…enjoy!

Simon’s Story

Stuart’s Mom and Dad arrived home late on a Friday night and decided to do some house cleaning. Samantha went into the kitchen to move a box from the countertop to the fireplace hearth. As she bent down to set the box on the hearth she saw something lying on the fireplace and screamed!

Dad to the rescue! Samantha thought it might be a dead mouse but Dwayne said, “It looks like a baby squirrel, and I think he just fell down the chimney!” Samantha took a closer look at it and thought with that kind of fall it surely must be dead. Just then the baby squirrel slowly opened and closed his eyes……

No more than 5 inches long, and very weak, this little fella was in big trouble. Sam and Dwayne placed him in a five gallon bucket with some soft cloth padding while they started an internet search, hoping they could learn enough quickly to ensure his survival.

From photos and descriptions Sam and Dwayne learned that the baby squirrel was between 4 and 5 weeks old and they started out feeding him puppy weaning formula using an oral syringe. They also contacted some other folks who have raised squirrels to check out the finer points of the process.

Simon Chow Time!

Little “Simon” is thriving beautifully…running around and happy! Samantha takes him to work with her (same routine as baby Stuart) so she can give him his mid-day feedings. Dwayne took him to work recently and everyone loved him, especially his boss…whose shoulder Simon immediately peed on!

Simon with Dwayne

This week Simon is learning all about eating more solid foods but still needs his baby formula.  His favorite solid food right now is a wheat snack mix. Eating standing up with food in his paws is proving to be quite a challenge! Being a baby still, little Simon isn’t all that steady on his feet and falls over quite a bit.

Recently Simon crawled out of his bucket, soon making his way into the bedroom with Stuart. Some pretty loud quacking let them know Simon was in the bedroom. Stuart is doing a fine job as a watch-duck for baby Simon. He’s such a good boy!!!

The plan is to try not to get too deeply attached so that they can give Simon a soft release in about four months. At that time his cage will be placed outdoors with the door open so he can have easy access to food, water and a safe snuggly spot while he’s exploring the natural world.

Our Favorite Pic

Right now Samantha and Dwayne are dedicated parents to this sweet squirrel and it’s hard for them to think about letting him go. Check back here in a few weeks for an more of Simon’s adventures.

Hope you all enjoy Simon’s baby photos as much as we did!

Welcome to JinglePets™ studio blog!

Posted on 22nd June 2008 by admin in General, Pets - Tags: , , , ,

We’ll be posting regularly about all kinds of studio projects and animal activities.

The idea for JinglePets™ collars was born almost a year ago and it certainly has been a fascinating process. Tons of research, product development/testing and putting the collars out into test homes has resulted in what we think are some of the coolest pet collars around!

JinglePets Models

We’ve had a lot of fun working with our pet models designing the look and getting the fit just right for a variety of body types and personalities. We wanted to offer a collar design that would be just plain fun, which ended up as our Charm Collar series, but also wanted to create a sleek sophisticated style…Chainmaille weaves for pets and “The People Who Love Them!”

It has been very interesting to get the animals and pet owners’ reactions to our charm collars. In the beginning we thought the sound of the charms jingling might drive folks a little batty and sort of held our breath after the first few collars went out to test homes. We were delighted to discover that our test models and their families loved the sound…and so did their friends, their vet’s office staff, and even people out in public settings!

We’re very excited about donating a percentage of our sales to animal advocacy and rescue groups across the country. We’ll be featuring a group on the website every month at ”Featured Animal Groups“. We’ve selected 6 groups that cover almost every kind of animal that needs help and/or sanctuary. We hope you’ll visit our site as the animal groups change each month.

Until next time!
